Course Description: The Grade 9 English course develops students’ reading, writing, oral communication, and critical thinking skills through the study of literary, informational, and media texts. Students learn to communicate ideas clearly, analyze diverse perspectives, and strengthen their ability to engage thoughtfully with language and storytelling.
Sanrise ensures cultural relevance by integrating diverse voices, histories, and perspectives from Canada, the Caribbean, and Africa throughout the course, creating a meaningful and engaging learning experience.

Students will develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills that will help them succeed in high school and beyond.
Students will explore a wide range of literature, including stories and texts that reflect their cultural backgrounds, making learning more relevant and interesting.
Through analysis of various media and literature, students will learn to think critically and form their own opinions, preparing them for complex problem-solving and decision-making in the future.
By participating in discussions, presentations, and creative writing exercises, students will gain the confidence to express their thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively.
